2–24 December
Christmas at The Griffin
Christmas at The Griffin begins with mulled port, warm sourdough and caramelised bay leaf butter, and a cup of cauliflower and almond soup to follow it — then five courses, taken slowly.
Expect seasonal dishes including truffle croissant pudding, cured Chalkstream trout and Chiltern venison, followed by Christmas favourites such as Bronze turkey with sage and onion stuffing, flamed halibut, hay-baked celeriac and treacle-glazed featherblade of beef.
The table comes properly dressed for Christmas too, with cauliflower cheese, caraway-glazed carrots, charred sprouts with toasted seeds, roast potatoes and pigs in blankets.
And to finish, choose from indulgent seasonal desserts including mince pie sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate crémeux, treacle tart and nutmeg crème brûlée — or a board of Baron Bigod brie, Burford and Pevensey Blue with quince jelly.
Five Christmas courses · £85 per person
Larger tables can take it family-style. Our Christmas Sharing Menu sends a 53-day aged Hereford tomahawk, bronze turkey and seasonal fish to the middle of the table to be carved and passed around, with the same opening and the cheese board to close. Available for tables of 15 or more.

Moments Shared at The Griffin…

Based on recommendations, my expectations for The Griffin’s sunday roast were unreasonably high. But I can now happily say those expectations were more than met! If you want a proper English roast with a classy and flavourful touch, The Griffin’s got you covered. Lovely, professional staff and food that’s to die for!

We were lucky to get a seat without booking. The food was phenomenal, atmosphere great, and the building beautiful. We had the lunch menu; the wagyu burger, chicken wings, gnocchi and crispy cabbage are 10/10, we definitely recommend. We sat in the “fireplace” 🙂

I always wanted to try Sunday Roast. It’s such a good memory that The Griffin offered a lovely meal to us. We ordered lamb and beef. No matter the meat, the sides and gravy tasted delicious and delicate. The services were impeccable. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing Sunday roast. I’m a Michelin starred chef and to be honest I’d rate this meal as one of my finest to date. Roasties were another level with the use of beef dripping to get that crispness. Roast pork belly with the crunchy skin done to perfection and the beef so tender and juicy, something you’d pay 50% more for in London. Keep up the good work Griffin!

Absolutely superb — best price / quality ratio in anywhere I’ve been to in England. The heritage carrot gnocchi was to die for, I’d go back again tomorrow if I could.

We had the joy of visiting The Griffin this weekend and it lives up to the hype…and much more. We were a group of four, with three dogs on a busy Saturday lunchtime and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating…great service, friendly staff and we opted for the lunchtime set menu, which was amazing value and delicious. Highly recommend this place — and we will be returning for certain.

It’s easy to gift five stars when one experiences the Sunday roast at The Griffin. Attentive service, delightful atmosphere and food that is thoughtfully made and utterly delicious. My only complaint is that I cannot be here more often, it has been an amazing experience and one that I’m sure we will share and cherish. We will surely be back! Thank You.

This was our first time here and part of a birthday treat for my wife. The Sunday lunch was the best we’ve experienced and a step better than the previous best that we’d had. The service was also excellent.
